The Garden Isle
Kauai's reefs are among the most pristine in Hawaii. The island's remote North Shore — accessible only by boat or a challenging trail — shelters some of the most biodiverse reef ecosystems in the Pacific. Tunnels Beach, with its dramatic lava tube formations and exceptional clarity, is a bucket-list snorkel site. The sunny South Shore at Poipu offers calm, beginner-friendly waters where Hawaiian green sea turtles are a near-daily sighting. And a Na Pali Coast catamaran cruise combines world-class snorkeling with the most dramatic coastal scenery on Earth.
Tunnels Beach on Kauai's North Shore is widely considered one of the best snorkel sites in Hawaii. Named for the underwater lava tubes and arches that wind through the reef, Tunnels offers exceptional visibility, abundant marine life, and dramatic scenery with the Na Pali cliffs in the background. This small-group tour keeps the experience intimate and unhurried.
Poipu Beach on Kauai's sunny South Shore is the most accessible and beginner-friendly snorkel site on the island. Hawaiian green sea turtles rest on the beach and feed in the shallows year-round, and the calm, protected waters are perfect for first-time snorkelers and families with children. Gear and instruction included.
Combine the drama of the Na Pali Coast with world-class snorkeling on this full-morning catamaran cruise. Sail along the towering sea cliffs, enter sea caves, and snorkel at pristine sites accessible only by boat. Spinner dolphins frequently escort the vessel, and humpback whales are visible December through April.
Your own private boat and guide, your own pace, your own Kauai. Choose from Tunnels, Poipu, the Na Pali Coast, or let the captain pick the best conditions on the day. Perfect for families, honeymooners, and photography enthusiasts. All snorkel gear, food, and drinks included.

What makes Tunnels Beach special for snorkeling?
Tunnels Beach gets its name from the underwater lava tubes and arches that create a dramatic, maze-like reef structure. The North Shore location means excellent visibility and a rich diversity of marine life. The backdrop of the Na Pali cliffs makes it one of the most scenic snorkel sites in all of Hawaii.
Is Kauai snorkeling good for beginners?
Yes. Poipu Beach on the South Shore offers calm, protected waters that are ideal for first-time snorkelers. Our guides provide full instruction before entering the water, and life jackets are available for non-swimmers. Tunnels is better suited to intermediate snorkelers due to occasional current.
When is the best time to snorkel in Kauai?
The South Shore (Poipu) is calm year-round. The North Shore (Tunnels) is best May through September when winter swells subside. Na Pali Coast boat tours operate May through September when the North Shore is accessible by sea.
Is snorkel gear included?
Yes — masks, snorkels, and fins are included on all tours. Prescription masks are available on request. Wetsuits can be rented for cooler mornings on the North Shore.
Are children welcome?
Absolutely. Poipu Beach tours are especially family-friendly. Children 5 and up can snorkel with a parent. Life jackets are provided for all ages. The Na Pali cruise is suitable for children 7 and up.
