The Aloha Spirit
A Hawaiian luau is more than a dinner show — it's a living celebration of Polynesian culture, history, and community. From the moment you arrive with a fresh flower lei to the fire-knife finale under the stars, a luau connects you to the spirit of aloha in a way no other experience can. Maui is home to some of the finest luaus in all of Hawaii, from the legendary Old Lahaina Luau on the historic waterfront to spectacular oceanfront productions at Ka'anapali and Wailea. Our local team has attended every major luau on the island and will match you with the experience that fits your group perfectly.
Maui's most authentic and celebrated luau, held on the historic Lahaina waterfront. The Old Lahaina Luau has been running for over 30 years and is consistently rated the best luau in Hawaii. The show traces the history of Hawaiian culture from ancient Polynesia through modern times, with hula performances, live music, and a traditional imu (underground oven) ceremony.
Held at the Hyatt Regency Maui on Ka'anapali Beach, Drums of the Pacific is a spectacular production featuring Polynesian performers from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, Fiji, and New Zealand. The oceanfront setting, elaborate costumes, and fire-knife finale make this one of Maui's most visually stunning luau experiences.
Set on the beach at the Wailea Beach Marriott, Te Au Moana ("Ocean Tide") offers an intimate luau experience with a focus on authentic Hawaiian storytelling. The show features traditional hula, chant, and music performed by a talented cast, with a premium buffet and open bar overlooking the Pacific.
Host a private luau for your group — ideal for weddings, anniversaries, corporate events, and family reunions. We coordinate venue, catering, entertainment, and cultural programming to create a fully customized celebration. Multiple Maui venues available, from beachfront resorts to private estates.

How far in advance should I book a Maui luau?
The Old Lahaina Luau and other top venues sell out weeks in advance, especially June through August and December. We recommend booking at least 2 weeks ahead, and 4–6 weeks ahead for peak season travel.
Are luaus appropriate for children?
Absolutely. Luaus are one of the most family-friendly experiences in Hawaii. Children love the fire dancing, hula performances, and the feast. Most venues offer children's pricing for ages 3–12.
What is a traditional imu ceremony?
An imu is a traditional Hawaiian underground oven. A whole pig is wrapped in banana leaves and slow-roasted over hot lava rocks for 6–8 hours. The uncovering of the pig is a ceremonial highlight of authentic luaus.
What should I wear to a luau?
Casual resort wear is perfect — an aloha shirt, sundress, or light pants. Most luaus are outdoors, so bring a light layer for the evening. Flip-flops or sandals are fine.
Is transportation to the luau included?
Some venues offer hotel pickup for an additional fee. Most guests drive or take a rideshare. We can arrange transportation as part of your booking — just ask when you call.
